Construction workers at Woodside Petroleum Ltd.'s Pluto liquefied natural gas project in Western Australia have gone on strike over an accommodation complaint, a union official said Monday.
Western Australia Construction, Forestry, Mining and Engineering Union Assistant Secretary Joe McDonald said a meeting in Karratha Monday evening of approximately 1,600 Woodside workers voted to strike for 48 hours, effective immediately.
"They return to work Thursday morning," McDonald told Dow Jones Newswires.
Of concern is Woodside's plan to require employees to change rooms at the end of each rostered work cycle instead of getting their own permanent rooms for the duration of their involvement in the project.
