WestPac LNG plans to construct and operate a liquefied natural gas facility at Bish Cove near the Port of Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada.

The facility will include a marine off-loading dock, LNG storage, natural gas liquids recovery, ragasification and send-out facilities. LNG will be sent to the interconnection of the existing Spectra Energy’s Westcoast Pipeline system. Because the facility is in close proximity of an existing pipeline, the construction process will take less time and North America will have faster access to natural gas.

The facility spans across 80 acres--not including the marine based portion. There is a berth for tugs and barges on the north shore of the cove and breasting dolphins and an unloading platform on the eastern shore for LNG tankers. Because of the ports deep-water access, harbor dredging is not required.

Kitimat LNG is expected to go online in 2010.
