Sunstone Pipeline, a venture of Williams Gas Pipeline Company, TransCanada PipeLine USA Ltd., and Sempra Pipelines & Storage, is an estimated $2.34 billion pipeline project that will run from the Mountain Rockies to Oregon.

According to Williams, seven other companies have agreed to ship gas through the pipeline, but they did not disclose which companies, how much volume will be transported, or the contract amounts.

Sunstone Pipeline will be a 585-mile, 42-inch-diameter pipeline with capacity of up to 1.2 billion cubic feet per day. The project, scheduled to come online 2011, involves constructing a pipeline parallel to the existing Northwest Pipeline system that is jointly owned by Williams and Williams Pipeline Partners.

The Sunstone Pipeline route begins in Opal Hub, Wyo., and continues to Stanfield, Ore., where it will connect with Williams Northwest Pipeline system and TransCanada’s Gas Transmission Northwest pipeline system.

According to a notice on Williams' Sunstone Pipeline Web site (accessed February 23, 2011), field work and survey activities are suspended temporarily as the company "re-evaluates the scope and timing" of the project.
