Project description
PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (PetroChina Sichuan) is building an integrated refining and petrochemicals complex near Chengdu in China's Sichuan province.
When completed in 2010, the grassroots facility is expected to be one of the most integrated facilities of its kind in the world. PetroChina Sichuan will apply a number of technologies licensed by UOP LLC, including the following: UOP Unicracking hydrocracking unit; UOP CCR Platforming continuous catalytic reforming unit; UOP Parex para-xylene unit; UOP Isomar isomerization unit; and UOP Tatoray toluene disproportionation unit. In addition, PetroChina will license Dow's UNIPOL Polypropylene Process Technology for the complex's single-train polypropylene facility and Davy Process Technology's LP Oxo Selector 10 technology for the hydrofomulation unit.
PetroChina Sichuan will have the capacity to produce 600,000 metric tons per annum (mtpa) of para-xylene, 350,000 mtpa of benzene, and 450,000 mtpa of polypropylene. In addition, the complex will process 2.2 million tons per year of heavy gas oil from crude oil into diesel, kerosene, and naphtha.
