The hearing, which began in Calgary on November 5, was scheduled to continue in Saskatoon on Wednesday. The NEB cancelled the Saskatoon portion of the hearing. This decision follows notification to the NEB by the Poundmaker First Nation and the Keeseekoose First Nation that they are in discussions with Enbridge and are anticipating a settlement.

The two First Nations have asked to be heard in the Regina portion of the hearing which will begin as previously scheduled on November 19.

The final portion of the hearing into the proposed Alberta Clipper project will then resume in Calgary in the NEB Hearing Room on Monday, Nov. 26.

The proposed Alberta Clipper project is a new 1,607 km oil pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin. The Canadian portion of the project would involve the construction and operation of facilities including approximately 1,074 km of new 914 mm outside diameter (36-inch) oil pipeline between Enbridge's Hardisty Terminal and the Canada-United States border near Gretna, Manitoba. The pipeline would have an initial capacity of 71,500 m3 (450,000 barrels per day). The estimated cost of the project is expected to be $2 billion with construction to be completed by the end of December 2009.
