Singapore-headquartered Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO) said Friday that it has been awarded contracts totaling $25 million (AUD24 million) for three vessels by Saipem Leighton Consortium to support construction activities at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal development project in northwest Australia.
Under the contract terms, MEO will provide services for a year, with an option to extend for 183 days.
The company's three vessels – Samson VI, Samson VII and Cape Mac – are already at the LNG terminal, a spokesperson with MEO told Rigzone on Friday. "One of vessels is already working, while the remaining two are undergoing final inspections," the spokesperson said. Samson VI and Samson VII are multicats, while Cape Mac is an ASD tug.
"These contracts will assist in maintaining our strong levels of utilization in the tug fleet leading into our 2013 financial year," MEO's CEO Diederik de Boer said in a statement.
MEO, said the spokesperson, is at present recruiting for both full-time and part-time crew to work on the three vessels.
MEO is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
