Occidental Petroelum's proposed Ingleside Energy Center (IEC) was approved by the FERC in June 2005. Development is being handled by an Oxy subsidiary, Occidental Energy Ventures Corp.

An LNG facility, IEC will be located next to Oxy's existing chemical plant on the Corpus Christi Bay near Ingleside, Texas.

Consisting of a new marine basin on the La Quinta Channel with a protected berth for unloading LNG, two storage tanks with 160,000-cubic-meter capacity, ethane and LPG recovery facilities, LNG vaporizing equipment, and the San Patricio Pipeline, estimated costs for the project exceed $400 million. Development plans include reusing 2 million gallons of the wastewater produced by the chemical plant each day in the vaporization process.

Natural gas output capacity at IEC will be 1 billion cubic feet per day to the San Patricio Pipeline, whose construction is in the planning phases, according to Oxy. A fourth of the imported LNG to the facility will be upgraded into on-site electricity generation and petrochemical feedstock.

The 26-inch diameter San Patricio Pipeline will stretch 26 miles and host nine interconnections with existing interstate and intrastate pipelines. The pipeline is expected to be completed coinciding with the timeline of IEC.

As of August 3, 2010, FERC indicated the Ingleside LNG project was not under construction.
