The application details the environmental impacts associated with the project, how these can be minimized and how any remaining negative impacts are mitigated by compensations measures. The siting and operations permit application will be followed by the application for a permit to construct within 10 days after the current filing.

The comprehensive environmental impact assessment performed, including noise and emissions modelling as well as ecological and landscape impact assessment, demonstrates that no significant negative impacts will occur as a result of the mitigation proposed by 4Gas. The application also contains a complete external safety assessment and demonstrates that the safety related risks to the terminal surroundings are acceptable.

The application also details important modifications made to the project in comparison with the earlier proposition that was the basis of the "Debat Public". The proposed project responds to the recommendations resulting from this public consultation that took place during the second half of 2007. The principle modifications include the use of electro chlorination, an improved implantation in terms of landscape and visibility and an extra containment measure to further reduce the effect distances of potential incidents. It also includes the option of installing the LNG tanks approximately 20 meters below the current ground level in addition to the original proposition of installing the tanks 3 meters below the current ground level.

Over the course of the administrative process, which includes a further round of public consultation, 4Gas seeks to engage the community to further discuss both options for the construction of the tanks and include the input in determining the optimal implantation of the project.

4Gas expects the aforementioned public consultation to take place in the second half of 2008 and anticipates that the required permits will be granted in 2009. With a possible start of construction in the first half of 2010, 4Gas estimates the terminal could become operational at the end of 2013.
