Hyundai Oilbank has embarked on a major grassroots expansion at the Daesan refinery. The project will allow Hyundai Oilbank to convert high-sulfur fuel into higher-value refining products while also upgrade the refinery to meet future fuel specifications in South Korea.
The Shaw Group, Inc. and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. will provide front-end engineering design (FEED) for the integration of 15 process units at the refinery. These process units include a 52,000-b/d residue fluidized catalytic cracking unit and a 66,000-b/d atmospheric residue desulfurization unit. The Shaw-Hyundai Engineering consortium also will provide FEED for associated utilities and infrastructure, procurement of critical equipment, and project management services.
