Ethylbenzene is a colorless liquid used to make styrene. More specifically, ethylbenzene is used as an intermediate compound to aid in the production of styrene. Styrene is then used to make polystyrene, a common plastic. Present in small amounts in crude oil, ethylbenzene can be mass-produced by combining the petrochemicals benzene and ethylene.
