Less than 24 hours after it attacked three oil pipeline belonging to the Anglo-Dutch oil giant, Shell, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) in the earlier hours of Monday hit another oil facility of the company.

A statement by MEND's spokesman Jomo Gbomo said "we can confirm that an attack took place at the AFREMO off-shore oil fields which is 14 nautical miles from the Forcados export terminal. We believe the facility is operated by Shell."

Recent attacks on offshore platforms -have shut down production of up to 1 million barrels-a-day.
